My friend and former coworker, You Mon Tsang, was the one who suggested that I create this web site. He heard me lamenting over how difficult it was for me to get rid of my old shirts and suggested that I produce a web site for them. I asked him why anyone would be interested in a web site devoted to my T-shirts, and he said "forget that, do it for yourself." And as you can see, I've taken that advice to heart.

I first met You Mon when I joined Brio Technology. He was my product manager for a number of data access and analysis applications which formed the basis for BrioQuery, Brio's flagship product. When You Mon left Brio to go work for Xerox PARC, he had a couple of t-shirts in his office that he had never worn. One of them was this one. He probably never wore it because it advertises a competitor of Brio's. It's pretty tacky to wear a T-shirt from the competition -- unless perhaps you are painting the ceiling or cleaning out the chimney. Anyway, I was in his office when he was clearing out, and he asked me if I wanted it, and I said "sure". I like the design very much, and, to me, it is not an obvious advertisement for a Brio competitor.

I did wear it to work at Brio a few times, and our VP demanded to know why I was wearing a competitor's T-shirt. I told her, firmly, "well, You Mon gave it to me, and I miss him. So that's why I'm wearing it."

I worked with You Mon once again after he and Dan Gartung started Milktruck. And one day, while walking with him to lunch in downtown San Mateo, this web site became a glimmer in my mind's eye.
