Mrs. D. Wrathall,
Government House,
Box 368, Salisbury.
Dear Mrs. Wrathall,
At this time of sadness I write on behalf of my wife and myself,
and of all the Salvationists of Salisbury Citadel Corps.
We would extend to you our deepest sympathy at the passing of your
husband, and assure you of our prayers for needed grace in these days of
shadow.
The President and yourself afforded us the privilege of your
presence at worship with us, and also the privilege of your hospitality
during past Christmas seasons. These are lovely memories for us.
Beyond the facts, however, we remember how graciously the President of
our land came amongst us, bringing a dignity and a charm and a humility
with him.
We respectfully salute him, as our national leader, and as a Christian
who was not ashamed to declare his faith, and to inspire that faith in
others.
As a fellow-Lancastrian, I have no small pride that John Wrathall
became the worthy President of a proud land.
We Salvationists had been looking forward to the visit which you and
your husband were to make to the Citadel an September l7th. If you feel
that you would wish still to worship with us that morning, ours will be
the privilege of welcoming you. We have cherished your coming as
Christian friends, as much as in your office as President and Mrs. Wrathall.
