Installing Ubuntu Debian Linux

Download ISO images

Burn CD's

Burn a cd for each iso. You will need one CD for each ISO. Generally you will not need the SRPM CD's (at least until after the install).

Boot from CD #1 and follow the instructions.

Building the kernel

Get the kernel debian kernel package by typing

which will create the file /usr/src/linux-source-2.6.10.tar.bz2 containing the linux source already patched the way Ubuntu needs it patched.
