11 January 2004

Happy New Year! Lots happening in the world of 555 as always. (Not always good news however).

First up: LATHE CUT SERIES

55539 PRAYING MANTIS (a.k.a. LUNCHBOX)
55540 PRINTED CIRCUIT
55541 FIGURINE

I had a lot of interest in the lathe cut series when announced, but not many of people actually putting their hands in their pockets. There were meant to be 12 in total, (one each month), but I have been financially forced to stop the series after only 6.

I also went to pains to explain that as the discs were so expensive to make, and take 4 months to press, if you wanted any of the first three, I needed PAYMENT by October last year. (Of course I have had a recent flurry of "is it too late to purchase" emails)

Well, if you missed the first 3, make sure you don't mss the next 3.

I will need payment in full by the END OF FEBRUARY
All three discs together are $30 a set ppd in the USA. Overseas please add $9.

If you are not interested in all three, and just want one or two they are $11 each ppd in the USA. (Overseas you still need to add $9 postage regardless if you are ordering one disc or all three- I can't help this and I have already lost money on the series due to the ever weakening US dollar). PAYPAL at Jenturrell@hotmail.com - PLEASE ADD $1.00.

(Note: If you were one of the cool 51 people in the uniglobe who signed up for all 6 in time then disregard the above; you will be receiving your first 3 discs very shortly)

OTHER NEWS

Three recent releases available from us via mailorder.

555CD68 BOYRACER Check Yr Fucking Hi$tory CDEP

"Boyracer remain as lithe, spirited and goddamn stubborn as ever. Just to prove the point, this EP starts with a real trio con brio - "You've Squandered Yr Talents", "New Plastic" and "A History of Snakes" are all pristine showroom demos of how Stewart Anderson and Jen Turrell are still able to compress emotion, complex rhythms, gnawing lyrics and snippets of really undeniably pretty melodies into blistering pop nuggets of undue haste." -ilwtt.org

555CS64 BOYRACER Acoustically Yours CASSETTE

"The best cassette release of 2003, and indeed probably of this young century. 22 tracks, some new and some old favourites, giving you a chance to dust off the old-style walkman and wander round the flat in rapt admiration of the songwriting side of Flagstaff's finest."-ilwtt.org

555CD66 BIT SHIFTER Life's A Bitshifter CD

"This album is absurdly good. The tones and beats are surprisingly large given the instrument they were composed for. Very plausible tech step beat madness..."-AUTOreverse.com

PLEASE NOTE ALSO as of 2004 I have no European distribution anymore. Almost everyone we used to deal with has decided to stop, and in most cases owing us lots of money. (Currently somewhere around $6,000). At present DARLA are the only people who distribute 555's new and forthcoming releases. With current climate in mind, it's pretty obvious the label is coming to an end. I simply can't continue losing money, coupled with dwindling distribution I can no longer manage to produce a CD that makes triple figures. And, the bands deserve more than I am now able to offer...

Having said that, there will be a new ASHTRAY BOY CD at some point soon. And there will be lots of BOYRACER releases throughout 2004.

Thanks for your support.

Love,
Stew + Jen
