Melody starring in The Wizard of Oz

The Wizard of Oz played at the Eaton Road Opera House in Chico from Oct. 19 to Dec. 7.

Here's an excerpt from the review by Larry Tripp in the Chico News & Review, Nov. 7 1996.

It goes without saying that the success of any rendition of The Wizard of Oz is contingent upon a cohesive quartet of Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion. And in the foursome of Melody Hardy, Wes Lincoln as the Scarecrow, Jeffrey Duncan as the Tin Man and Jon Levenson as the lion, (director) McDonald has done some masterful work...

Hardy possesses an extraordinary voice, full of sweetness and light. However, her Dorothy is also a grimly determined young girl, consumed by the task of getting back to Kansas. It was a solid performance.

Fortunately, in spite of it all, Melody manages to keep on an even keel, and is maintaining her equilibrium and perspective.
