Love is from God, and he who loves is born of God and knows God, for God is love.

1 John 4:7-8

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I am no more than a sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not love, it profits me nothing.

Love is patient. Love is kind. Love is not jealous or boastful. Love is not arrogant or rude. Love is not self-seeking. Love is not easily angered and bears no grudges. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices in the truth.

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will fail. Where there are tongues, they will be stilled. Where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For our knowledge is imperfect, and our prophecy is imperfect, but when perfection comes, the imperfect will pass away.

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child. But when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know even as I am known.

So faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13

If you have love, you don’t need to have anything else, and if you don’t have it, it doesn’t matter much what else you have.

Sir James M. Barrie

Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it’s cracked up to be. That’s why people are so cynical about it... It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don’t risk anything, you risk even more.

Erica Jong

To love a person is to learn the song that is in their heart, and to sing it to them when they have forgotten.
