We bid thee welcome and We bid thee well.

Glyph of the Griffins

This is a part of the rhyme
that is ancient to our time,
It does not begin with 'once upon a time'
Or
'In a galaxy far, far away,'
But this rhyme begins,
In a land beyond, beyond,
In a realm past the hope and the fear,
where we pass by today and go beyond tomorrow.

Somewhere in this travel,
in the space between the stars,
We come to the edge of creation,
and the Fortress of Forever.
This citadel
is a great glyph of magic woven within and without,
to the depths and the monolithic heights,
of the ever expanding walls of the fortress.
The massive glyph is a weave of symbols,
One for everything that ever has been,
of life and dreams,
Wrapped around the sphere of creation,
in spiral fashion,
Layer after layer,
Pushing the edge of forever outward,
Driving back the formless creature of undoing.
The speed of our travel slows,
And we come to rest before one of the symbols,
Of the Great Glyph.

There is a sound that rolls over us,
Like that of a thousand shields,
being struck by thunder,
As the formless creatures of undoing,
Hurl their unnatural powers against the unyielding glyph.

From one of the symbols,
a creature of unusual feature comes forwards.
Its body is that of a great lion,
With the head of a hawk,
And a thick main,
that burns like the corona of a star.
It has Wings woven from the great glyph itself,
Like those of a dragonfly adorn its back,
And its brow is crowned,
with the horn of the unicorn.

The blue eyes of the creature take notice of us,
and its wings flick open in response to our presence.

Finally It speaks, "I see, thee, are as well creatures of the Goddess,
She, Who is mother of all worlds.
I am Gylyth from the tribe of the Horn,
and the clan of the mighty griffin."

Gylyth stands upon his hind legs, striking a proper hero's pose.
"WE are fearless warriors!!"
Gylyth adds in a deeper voice.

His noble pose is broken by a warm voice coming from inside the great glyph.
"Gylyth! It's time to come in for dinner!"

Gylyth turns back to the wall.
"Just a minute, Mom! I'm talking to the humans!"
Gylyth pauses uncomfortably before turning back to us,
slowly shaking his head.
"No. . . I bet you thought that was my mom, like, my real mom.
That was really the Master of Military Maneuvers . . .yeh
. . . momm for short. It's a secret code word."
Gylyth explains as he slowly sits. A moment more of thought.
"I'm a big griffin."

Gylyth now sits straight and proud.
"Yes we are the mighty griffins! With the power of the Horn,
and the tones of the stars to create our magic with!
Have you ever herd the sound song by stars?
I will sing one for you."
Gylyth clears his throat, and then clears it again.
"Excuse me, just a fur ball." He explains.
Then his song begins.
A sound like a hundred forms of rain
Returning to the sea.
Then a change
to become like the wind,
moving through the season of autumn trees.

"gylyth! Come in for dinner right now!"
calls the voice from within the glyph.

"OK!" Gylyth calls. "I have to go, now."

Gylyth walks to the glyph
and then stops to look back at us once more.

"I'm a big griffin."

He says before vanishing into the labyrinth of symbols
that form the Great Glyph.
