  Mad about Mountains

A Haiku for our Lost Sisters

The dead of winter
A bitter north wind has blown
Trees empty of leaves

We know spring will come
Anticipate warmth, barely, but
Now is a gray pall

Snowflakes in February

Snow falling where it
Doesn't, soft white miracles
Disappearing now

Snow Haiku

Frozen in mid-air
then drifting idly on a whisper
to its soft demise

-Sarah Webster

Love dies with many
Reminders of memories.
Cancer breaks our lives

Sure Not Haiku

Cancer's sure not bliss
or what we are told it is......
it's identity

-Joane Cardinal-Schubert

Snow falling outside
Inside, warmth and protection.
Who has the popcorn?

(Please pass it right now)
(I am so very hungry)
(For the taste of butter)

-Holly Anderson

Skiddaw Summit in Winter, Cumbria, England

Island Morning

Drifting and dreaming
The fog comes in from the sea
Mute,  mysterious.

-Jacky in Texas

Journey

Peace in the valley
Painful cry from mountain top
Awaits the echo

-Marj in Austin, TX

Miracles
for Joan V. --  and all of us who need to believe

On a mountainside
I once saw a Spring crocus
melt the snow with life
