We
brought home Finnegan in the first week of January, 2003 --
all the
way from Pennsylvania to San Francisco, California --
to join
our family: Suzanne and Ted
(smitten humans),
Gemma
Mae (our Golden girl b. April 1997),
and
Jasper
(our old but still feisty tuxedoed cat).

Because
his sire and dam are two exceptional Goldens,
I had high
hopes for Finn to prove himself as a "multi-purpose" golden!
Now, five
years later, he has shown and pointed in the breed ring,
handled
by my friend Chrstine Hsu, while I have novice-owner handled him
to titles
in obedience, rally, tracking, and field.
We are
just starting in agility while preparing for the utility ring,
and continuing
to train for variable surface tracking.
I plan to
eventually get Finn qualified as a therapy dog
so we can
work with both him and our girl Gemma,
and in
the near future we will begin training to become a volunteer
Search
And Rescue team for the Contra Costa County Sheriffs Department.
He may also
do some cancer detection research work having
successfully
detected skin cancer early enough to be treated.
But most
importantly,
"Foo
Foo" Finnegan is our second hiking companion and bed-hog,
another
resident anti-depressant Golden goofball!
