Gemma's Golden Haiku Collection

...PAGE 4

For Will:

Tears won't stop falling...
That one so made for loving
Could suffer such hate.

Sometimes I wonder
How the word "humane" relates
To the human race.

For my Furbabies:

Your eyes -- dark, warm pools --
How you have stolen my heart,
Windows on my soul.

For my House:

Snow falls inside house,
Dogs cavort in cotton flakes,
Woobie spirits dance.

For Noreen:

Weeks without smoking
Earns our respect and new name:
Alice B. Tokeless

Haiku by Jean Farny

Pillow all shredded.
Such fun! Couldn't stop myself.
See my pink belly.

Let go of my tail.
You hold with puppy sharp teeth.
How can I retrieve?

Puppy Pizza chases Newton

Pizza, Spenser, and Newton Farny
Philadelphia, PA
"This one describes Pizza's first swim.
We were out for a walk, and she was
chasing Newton around,
when he bounded into the creek."

Splashing across the creek.
Suddenly only water.
Pup paddles to shore.

Gemma and her dogdad Arsey
doing a shared bumper retrieve!

"This haiku is the result of our trip to the neighborhood park last night. We haven't had much snow this year, and both
Newton and Pizza were freaked out
by the additions to the landscape."

Fierce barks of warning
At a cold, pale form looming.
Snowman doesn't run.

"Spenser, Newton, Pizza and I
were walking in the fields
behind my mother's house when
we came upon a large frozen puddle."

Shiny cold surface.
Scrambling and getting nowhere.
Puppy crosses ice.
