Oakland Horology

Welcome!

My name is Vince. I have been a watch maker since 1997, being a student of the very last graduate class of the famed City College of San Francisco Watch Making Program .   I was trained via the Bulova method, as my late teacher was a graduate of the now defunct Bulova watch making school, which was established after WWII to provide watch making training to disabled veterans for their post military careers.  In addition to having over ten years of experience in watch making, I am also an appraiser for auction houses and consultant to watch companies.   I usually work on Swiss and American pocket watches made from early 19th century to the modern ones.  I am equally comfortable working on high end Patek Philippe Chronometers, to 1920s Art Deco Hamiltons.   My expertise is 19th century Swiss made pocket watches for the Chinese Market, especially those made by Bovet Fleurier.  I have personally repaired many of them, ranging from the regular Duplex model to the Gilt Enamel pendant watches for ladies.  I still have regular communication with the firm.

Membership

I am a member of the American Watchmakers-Clockmakers Institute since 1999, and National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors since 1997.  One of the most treasured items that I have is the book set "Swiss Timepiece Markers 1775-1975", personally signed by the author Kathleen H. Pritchard.  The late Ms. Pritchard, being the research archivist of the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors, had helped me numerous times when I was still a fresh graduate.

Workshop

I have a fair size workshop that has a good inventory of parts, and special tools for all your pocket watch needs. I utilize a vibrograf for timing.
