Esther Juanita Crook, 95, Normal, died at 9:35 p.m. Saturday (April 21, 2012) at Heartland Health Care Center, Normal.  

She was born Jan. 31, 1917 in Weldon, daughter of Arby Ray Smalley and Bessie May Gray Smalley.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Richard Doty and Charles Crook and one son, Richard Doty.  

Surviving are a brother, James Gray Smalley, Morehead, Ky.; grandchildren, Regina Thompson and Cheryl Galbreath, both of North Port, Florida; three great-grandchildren and one aunt, Virginia Reeser, Monticello.

He then married Mae "Hope" Marino, Jul 9 1949, Cook County, Illinois.1,8  

Dick and Hope divorced.1  

He then married Frances Avaneal "Avi" Mosley, Aug 29 1957, Denver, Denver County, Colorado.1,7,9,10  Frances, daughter of William E. Mosley & Lula J. Stephenson, was born Oct 3 1913, Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois.9,10  

Frances died Jun 30 1996, at her home, 108 Esser, Washington, Tazewell County, Illinois; age 82.9,10

SUNNYLAND, IL -- F. Avaneal Doty, 82, of 108 Esser, Washington, IL died at 12:10 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 1996, at her home.  Born Oct. 3, 1913, in Jacksonville to William E. and Lula J. Stephenson Mosley, she married Richard Doty on Aug. 29, 1957, in Denver.  He survives.  Also surviving are two grandchildren, Stephen Bayer and Kristen Bayer, both of Peoria Heights; one sister, Mabel Royar of Safety Harbor, Fla.; and two stepgrandchildren.  One daughter, Rebbca Bayer, one stepson, Richard R. Doty Jr., and one brother preceded her in death.  

She was a surgical-fitter for Sutcliff & Case Apothecary in Peoria for 14 years and was manager for Aldens Catalog in Peoria.  She was a supervisor for the State of Illinois Employment Services for 22 years, retiring in 1978.  She was a member of the State Employees Retirement System of Illinois.  

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria.  The Rev. Joey Watt will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour before services at the chapel.  Entombment will be in American Mausoleum, Peoria.  Memorials may be made to Saint Francis Medical Center Hospice Program in Peoria or Northern Tazewell Rescue Squad in Sunnyland.

NORMAL - Richard R. Doty, 93, Normal, formerly of Washington, passed away at 9:50 a.m. Thursday (November 23, 2006) at Manor Care of Normal.  

He was born Nov. 20, 1913, in Danvers, a son of William and Sarah Wade Doty.  He married Esther J. Smalley in 1936.  He later married Frances Avaneal Mosley on Aug. 29, 1957, in Denver, Colo.  She preceded him in death.  

His parents, one son, one brother, two sisters, three half-brothers and two half-sisters also preceded him in death.  

He is survived by Esther Crook, with whom he made his home; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  

Richard was a self-employed carpenter and retired from the International Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 183.  He was of the Baptist faith.  

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service Monday at the chapel.  Entombment will follow the service at the American Mausoleum in Peoria.  

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.  Tributes and condolences may be submitted to www.mem.com .
