Ross County Probate Court records show an entry logged July 20, 1849 by M. Gillfillan for the marriage of Mary Doty and George Ferner:5
"The State of Ohio Ross County s.s. I do certify that on the twenty second day of July A.D. 1849
George Furner and Mary Doty were legally joined in marriage by me. Jno. W. Locke M. J."

Note that is not a typo above - the marriage log index clearly spells his name "Ferner" but the marriage record equally clearly spells it "Furner"; Bea Doty Davison spelled his name "Turner"; the LDS IGI spells it "Furner".
