He married Sarah Faunce, Feb 25 1663.^1,2 [Feb 25 1662/3 by the old calendar]. Sarah, daughter of John Faunce & Patience Morton, was born about 1645, Plymouth, Massachusetts Colony.²

Sarah's father, John Faunce, had come to Plymouth in 1623 on the ship "Ann". He had married Patience Morton, daughter of George Morton & Julian Carpenter, in 1634.²

Edward Doty was a seaman by profession.² He received a double portion of the estate in his father's will.²

In a storm on the 8th of Feb 1689/90 [1690 in the modern calendar], Edward Dotey, along with his son John, and an Elkanah Watson, were drowned in Plymouth harbor, perhaps by the wreck of their vessel in attempting to enter the harbor.²
