He married Martha Glendora Johnstone^2,8 [Martha Glendora Johnston², Dora Johnson², Dora Johnston^15,16], Jun 15 1881^2,8, Salem, Marion County, Illinois^2,8.  Martha Glendora Johnstone, daughter of Noah Webster Johnstone & Mary Jane Hall, was born Apr 29 1862, Patoka, Marion County, Illinois.^2,17

Martha Glendora Johnstone died Jan 27 1903^2,16,17,18 [Jan 29 1903¹⁹], Clinton, DeWitt County, Illinois^2,16,17,18; age 40^2,16,17,18.  Dora died from the effects of a ruptured ex-uterine pregnancy.  A surgeon and a nurse from out of town (perhaps Chicago) were called in and they operated right in the dining room but to no avail.  Peritonitis had probably already developed.²  

Dora's obituary was published on Friday, January 30, 1903:¹⁷

ANOTHER MOTHER CALLED TO A BETTER WORLD REMAINS TAKEN TO HER OLD HOME FOR BURIAL Tuesday evening about 9 o'clock, Mrs. Martha E. Doty died at her home near the Christian church, aged nearly 41 years.  She had been sick about a month but her recovery did not seem in doubt until four or five days before her death when she was taken worse.  Deceased was born in Patoka, Ill. April 29, 1862.  In early life she united with the Methodist church and afterwards with the Baptist church in her home city, and her membership was never transferred from that church.  She was married to W. F. Doty, who survives her, as do four of seven children born to them.  The oldest daughter [sic] died a year ago.  The family had lived in Clinton since 1891, coming here from Pana.  She was a faithful Christian, and, a kind loving wife and mother.  Services were held at the home at 7:30 Thursday morning and the remains taken to Patoka, Ill, on the 8:30 train for burial.

He then married Dessaline "Dessie" Cunningham^2,20,21 [Dessaline "Dessie" Burton²²], Sep 7 1904^2,20,21, Office of the County Clerk, Decatur, Macon County, Illinois^2,20,21.  Dessaline, daughter of Robert + Mary Burton^21,22,23, was born Jan 24 1859^21,22,23 [Jan 29 1850²²], Livingston County, Illinois^21,22,23.  

Dessie had been previously married to Sanson Henderson "Park" Cunningham (1855-1900),²² with whom she had children, Charles Andrew Cunningham (Jan 24 1878 - May 13 1947),²³ Walter Leslie Cunningham (Sep 1 1883 - Dec 4 1939),^23,24 and Myrtle May Cunningham (Feb 8 1886 - Apr 6 1904).²⁵

DOTY-CUNNINGHAM On Wednesday evening at 6 o'clock Justice of the Peace McCoy married W. F. Doty of this city and Miss Dessaline Cunningham of Waynesville in the office of the county clerk.  They left on the 6:30 train for Waynesville, where they will live.

William and Dessie separated in February, 1905 (no children).²  Dessie remarried to Rudolph F. Matson.²²  Dessaline died Aug 4 1935, Wapella, DeWitt County, Illinois; age 76.^22,23  

He then married Sarah Matilda Wade Gorman² [Tillie Wade Gorman^2,8, Tillie Wade²⁶, Sarah Matilda Wade], Apr - 1907².  Sarah, daughter of Robert Wade^{2,10,11,12,26,27} [Francis Wade & Margaret Blacklock²⁸], was born Sep 14 1874^{2,10,11,12,26,27}, Kingston County, Ontario, Canada^{2,10,11,12,26,27} [near Pittsburg, Ontario, Canada²⁹, England³⁰].  

Tillie had been previously married to Robert L. Gorman,^2,30 Feb 20 1898, DeWitt County, Illinois^26,31 (divorced).²  She had one child by this previous marriage: Howard L. Gorman, born May 26 1901² / May 27 1901,³² died Mar 8 1988.³²
