Allen was a blacksmith and a farmer.21  

He married Hannah J. McMenis, May 11 1843, Ross County, Ohio.17,22,23,24  Hannah was born Oct 23 18251,2,11,20,25 [about 181926], Ohio1,2,11,20,25 [Tennessee5,26].  

Ross County Probate Court records show an entry logged May 10, 1843 by M. Gillfillan for the marriage of Allen Doty and Hannah McMenis:23

The State of Ohio
Ross County s.s.  

I do Certify that on the eleventh day of May A.D. 1843 Allen J. Doty and Hannah McMenis were legally joined in marriage by me.  

M. Gillfillan J.P.

Allen and Hannah had 10 children.21

Allen was the first of his family to come to Illinois.21  He settled in Patoka, Marion County, Illinois.21  

On Jun 20 1863 Allen acquired 120 acres of land in Marion County, Illinois.28  

Allen T. Doty died Sep 1 1869, age "49 Yr 18 Da".16,21,26,29  Allen died from "flux" (now called dysentery), with severe diarrhea, as did his brother James in the same county in the same month.19
