In January of 1902 a letter was sent to William Franklin Doty; the letter itself is not extant but the envelope was saved.  On the back of the envelope, probably in the handwriting of his granddaughter Mary Beatrix Doty, was written "Dads Relatives" (see scan below).  The return address on the envelope shows no name, but only the address 1222 Sherman Ave, "Alleg City Pa" (Allegheny City, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania - in 1907 incorporated into the city of Pittsburgh).  In 1902 Agnes (Doty) Speer was living at that address, so it is reasonable to conclude that Agnes was apparently closely related to William Franklin Doty and his father James Doty.
