On Jun 5 1917 William Jethro Jerrell, age 30, registered for the World War I draft in Asheboro, Randolph County, North Carolina. He declared he was born January 25 1887 in Asheboro, and was then still living in Asheboro where he had a wife and three children and was a carpenter employed by C.C. Cranford of Asheboro. He claimed exemption due to "Dep. Wife and Three Childr". He was recorded as tall, slender, blue eyes, dark hair.⁷
