Born about 1768.5,6  

He married Nancy Ann Clanton7,8 [Ann Clanton5,6].  Nancy, daughter of Benjamin+Elizabeth Clanton, was born 1771, Surry County, Virginia.7,8  Note that Jacob's brother Thomas married Nancy's sister Lucy Clanton.  

Jacob and family were shown in the 1800 census, Wilkes County, North Carolina:9

1 male age 26-44 (Jacob).
1 female age 26-44 (Nancy).
Also living in Wilkes County in 1800 were brothers William and Jonathan.9  

Jacob Hinshaw died 1811, Surry County, North Carolina.5,6  

Jacob made his will in Surry County, North Carolina on March 27, 1811 (probated August 1811).2  Will Book 3, page 98.10  The will names his sons Eli, Jonathan, Benjamin, and William, and also names his father-in-law Benjamin Clanton and brother-in-law Joseph Carter.2
