Gary L. Karst, 70, returned to his Lord on Thurs., Jan. 30, 2014, at PeaceHealth Hospital in Vancouver, WA. He was born on Jan. 22, 1944, in El Dorado, KS to Ralph B. and Veda (Bonnett) Karst. Gary married the love of his life, Elizabeth "Betty" Henshaw, on Sept. 8, 1967.
Gary was an honorable Marine and Vietnam War Veteran.
He graduated with a Business degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City and worked as a transportation supervisor for thirty-two years after having been a bank officer for four years.
Gary enjoyed sturgeon fishing, going to the ocean, bowling, and traveling.
Gary is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Betty, at home; son, Gary Lee II, his wife, Jaseea, and their baby daughter, Charlotte Elizabeth of Vancouver; son, Brian, Army Sgt. 1st Class of Ft. Bragg NC; sister, Janie DeVore of El Dorado, KS; brother, Ralph and his wife Ruby of Wichita, KS; brother, Charlie and his wife Ann of El Dorado, KS; brother, John and his wife Karen of El Dorado, KS; sister, Carolyn Wentling and her husband Craig of Milford, KS; thirteen nieces and nephews; twenty-two great-nieces and nephews; and nine great-great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 NE 112th Ave., Vancouver, WA on Thurs., Feb. 6, from Noon until 9 p.m. Services will be Fri., Feb. 7, at 3 p.m., with a reception in the hospitality room following the ceremony.
