Mabel Hinshaw Baldwin

Mabel Hinshaw Baldwin passed away Thursday, August 9, 2001 in Naples, FL.  She was born in Boonville, NC on October 10, 1916.  She was the daughter of the late Frank and Maggie Hinshaw of Boonville, NC and the beloved wife of the late Robert M. Baldwin for 57 years.  Mabel graduated from Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, NC as a registered nurse.  She served as a nurse in the U.S. Army prior to World War II.  She and her late husband moved to Riverside in 1955.  They were members of the James River Country Club.  Mabel spent her life being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all.  She is survived by her son, Robert M. Baldwin Jr. and his wife, Amelia of Naples, FL; three grandchildren, Robert M. Baldwin III of Winston-Salem, NC, Kimberly Robins and her husband, Jason of Greensboro, NC and Kelly Williams and her husband, Brian of Columbia, SC.  She is also survived by five great-grandchildren.  The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, August 12, 2001 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, Newport News, VA.  A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, August 13, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. in Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News, VA.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in her memory to the World War II Monument Fund, American Legion Post 135, 2296 East Tamiami Trail, Naples, FL 34112.
