He then married Susan J. Laughlin^1,3,12 [Susanna Laughlin¹³, Susannah Laughlin⁷], Dec 21 1884^1,3,12, Randolph County, North Carolina^1,3,12.  Susan, daughter of Seth W. Laughlin & Edna Levina Blair¹³, was born Aug 17 1855¹³ [Aug - 1856^3,4,5], Randolph County, North Carolina¹³.  

Note that Susanna's brother Seth W. Laughlin, Jr. married Winfield's first cousin Annie Hinshaw, and her brother Shubal W. Laughlin married Winfield's first cousin Mary Eliza Hinshaw.
