Lorana Marie Ray passed away on March 23, 2013.  Lorana was born on March 1, 1940 to Harold Hinshaw and Esther (Hosselkus) Hinshaw in DelNorte, Colorado.  She graduated from St. Helens High School in 1958 and married James R. Ray on April 22nd, 1960, also in St. Helens.

In 1965 Lorana and Jim moved to Florence, Oregon where they lived and raised their family for 37 years.  During Lorana's time in Florence she was a member of the Siuslaw Valley Fire Department for 24 years.  She retired from service as a Captain.  In 2002 Lorana and Jim moved to Harrisburg, Oregon to be closer to their grandkids.  Over the years she held various jobs but her proudest jobs were as a loving Housewife, Mother and Grandmother.  Lorana was a volunteer at heart.  From getting the March of Dimes Walk-A-Thon to Florence, volunteering with the Harrisburg Sports Program and supporting the youth group at the Harrisburg Christian Church where she attended.  She loved to work with ceramics, always working on something for a gift to a family member or friend.

She is survived by her husband of almost 53 years James Ray, of Harrisburg, two sons Terry (wife Kathy) and Mike (wife Mardell), also of Harrisburg, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 brothers Harold and Wayne Hinshaw, 1 sister, Linda (Hinshaw) Res and numerous nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Friday, March 29th at Musgrove Mortuary, in Junction City from 3-7pm.  A memorial to celebrate her life is scheduled for Saturday, March 30th at 10 am, at the Harrisburg Christian Church.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the Friends of Florence or Willamette Valley Cancer Institute in Eugene.  Condolences may be made online at www.musgroves.com.  Arrangements by Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home.
