On Jun 5 1917, Vernice O. Henshaw, age 26, registered for the World War I draft in Nelsonville, Athens County, Ohio.  He declared his residence as 467 W. Franklin, Nelsonville, Ohio and his occupation as self-employed teamster.  He declared he had a wife and child.  He was recorded as medium build, medium height, light blue eyes, light brown hair.4  

Vern and family were shown in the 1920 census (Jan 7 1920), 453 West Washington St., Nelsonville, York Township, Athens County, Ohio:1

Henshaw, Mary, wife, age 32, born in Ohio; parents born in Ohio.

Street Car Hits Machine and it, in
Turn, Crashes Into Another
Auto; No One Is Hurt

NELSONVILLE, Nov. 9. -- One automobile was badly wrecked, it is reported, in a collision on East Columbus Street yesterday afternoon in which two machines and the street car were involved.  Cars driven by Edna Laughlin and Bernice [sic] Henshaw came together at Monroe and East Columbus streets, it is stated, just as the 4 o'clock traction car advanced around the Jefferson Street corner.  The street car struck the Henshaw machine, which in turn crashed against the Laughlin car, a Chevrolet coach, which was badly damaged, it is said.  No one was hurt.

Mary died before Apr - 1930.6

The following article was published in the "Athens Messenger" (Athens, Ohio) on Sunday, March 22, 1931:2

Vern Henshaw is spending a few weeks with his daughter, Mrs. Lester Turner.

He then married Maggie M. Shane7 [Maggie M. Slotterbeck7].  Maggie was born Oct 15 1895.7,9  

In 1986 Maggie was living in Findlay, Hancock County, Ohio.9,10  

Maggie died Mar 14 1986, Fostoria, Wood County, Ohio; age 90.7,9  

Maggie's obituary was published in the "Fostoria Review Times" (Fostoria, Ohio) and in the "News-Messenger" (Fremont, Ohio) on March 15, 1986 (page 2, column 7)7
