Lillian Josephine McNulty Henshaw Mrs. Henshaw, 78, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at the Harris Hospice Unit of Presbyterian Hospital.
Born in The Bronx, NY on March 31, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Lillian Burke and James McNulty. She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and the Knghts of Columbus Widows Group, 'The Aces'. Mrs. Henshaw was a former employee of the Myers Park High School Cafeteria and until her illness, she was employed by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department as a School Crossing Guard for St. Ann's Catholic School and Park Road Elementary.
Mrs. Henshaw, 'Lil', never met a stranger. Everywhere she went, people were immediately drawn to her and touched by her lively and spirited personality. She had great humor, loved people, loved life, and above all, believed in the virtues of faith, church and family.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 29, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, with Father Richard Hanson of St. Vincent DePaul officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 28, from 7:00-9:00 PM at the McEwen Funeral Home in Pineville.
Mrs. Henshaw was preceded in death by her husband, George Vincent Henshaw. She is survived by her sons, James J. Henshaw and wife, Robin, of Charlotte, and Thomas A. Henshaw and wife, Donna, of Fort Mill, SC; two grandchildren, Gwendolyn and Elisabeth Henshaw of Charlotte; one sister-in-law, Mary McNulty of Washingtonville, NY; two nieces, Carol Bonar of Goshen, NY and Terry Matthews of Binghamton, NY; and one nephew, Jim McNulty of Perkasie, NY; as well as five great nieces; four great nephews; and a newborn great-great nephew.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Harris Hospice Unit at Presbyterian Hospital. The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care and kindness she received from the nurses and technicians at the Cancer Center.
Arrangements are in the care of McEwen Pineville Chapel.
