Born 1-1-1837, Cane Creek MM, North Carolina.8,12,13  Iram and sister Elizabeth were twins.7,8  

At Cane Creek MM on 10-2-1852, Isam was granted a certificate to Spiceland MM, Indiana.13  

At Spiceland MM (Indiana) on 11-24-1852, Isom, sister Elizabeth, and brother Nathan were received on a certificate from Cane Creek MM, N.C.12  

At Spiceland MM on 12-24-1856, Isom was granted a certificate to West Union MM.12  (Elizabeth followed the following year and Nathan the year after).12  

At West Union MM on 1-12-1857, Irom was received on a certificate from Spiceland MM.9  

At West Union MM on 4-7-1862, Irom was granted a certificate to Kansas MM, Kansas.9  

He married Nancy Lucinda Cumming.1,14,15  Nancy, daughter of William Cummings & Terry Hicks, was born 1834, Owen County, Indiana.15,16

Living next door in 1870 was brother Isaac.17  Also living very nearby was brother Newton.18  

He then married Hannah Alexander, Nov 8 1878, Sonoma County, California.5,10,19  Hannah was born Jan - 1853, Pennsylvania.3,4,5,20,21

On Aug 12 1882 Iram registered to vote in Santa Clara County, California:22

Iram was shown in the San Jose, and Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Santa Cruz Counties Directory of 1884-85:23

Iram was again shown in the San Jose, and Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Santa Cruz Counties Directory of 1887-88:24

"Hinshaw, Iram, carpet weaver, The Alameda and Wilson, res Wilson".

Iram was again shown in the San Jose City Directory of 1889:25

"Himshaw [sic], I, carpet weaver, res The Alameda".
Hannah also appeared in a San Jose City Directory of 1889:25
"Hinshaw, Hannah Mrs., res Wilson Ave."

Iram Hinshaw died Jan 9 1889, San Jose, Santa Clara County, California; age 52.26  

Iram's death was reported in the San Jose, California "Evening News" on Jan 9 1889 (where he is shown age 52),27 and also on Jan 10 1889 in the San Jose "Daily Herald".11  The article from the "Daily Herald" (actually shown on the newspaper itself as "San Jose Daily Mercury") appears as follows:6

HINSHAW - In San Jose, January 9, 1889, Iram Henshaw, aged 52 years.  

Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Friend's Church, on Stockton avenue at 11 o'clock A.M. TO-DAY (Thursday), Jan. 10th.

On Sep 23 1889 Hannah remarried to a Thomas VonCarnap28 (marriage performed by Geo. W. Beatty).28  

Hannah and her new husband and daughter Mertie were shown in the 1900 census (Jun 7 1900), Los Gatos, Santa Clara County, California:4

VanCarnap, Hannah, wife, age 47, born Jan 1853 in Pennsylvania; parents' birthplaces unknown; married 11 years; 1 child, 1 living.
VanCarnap, Mertie M., daughter, age 20, born May 1880 in California; father born in North Carolina; mother born in Pennsylvania; single.

Thomas VonCarnap died sometime before Apr 27 1910.20  

Widow Hannah was shown in the 1910 census (Apr 27 1910), working in the household of a William Keith in San Jose, Santa Clara County, California:20

VonCarnap, Hannah, servant, age 57, born in Pennsylvania; father born in United States; mother born in Pennsylvania; widow; 1 child, 1 living; occupation: cook, private family.

Widow Hannah was shown in the 1920 census (Jan 3 1920), living alone at 261 North Fourth, San Jose, Santa Clara County, California:21

VonCarnap, Hannah, head-of-household, age 66, born in Pennsylvania; parents born in Pennsylvania; widow; rented home.

Hannah died Oct 26 1929, Alameda County, California; age 75.29
