The following biographical sketch was published in the book "History of the Carter Family", pages 57-61, a contemporary (1924-1928) family history:1
Christopher, second son of Elza and Mary E. Hinshaw was born March 3, 1883. He was always a good boy and when he became a man he was married to Emma Lesley on Jan. 2, 1913. Christopher is an active minister in the Society of Friends. They live on the old home farm near old Shilo. They are the parents of five children: Helen Naomi, Lesley Oren, Robert Lincoln, Lawrence and Marshall Lee. Much credit is due the wife and mother for their happy home.

Emma died 1947, at her home, 908 North Cherry, Eaton, Preble County, Ohio; age 53.12,16,17,20
Emma's death was reported in a local newspaper20 (see scans below).
In 1962 Chris was living in Preble County, Ohio.11
Christopher C. Hinshaw died Aug 19 1962, Grandview Hospital, Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio; buried Mount Zion Cemetery, near Winchester, Randolph County, Indiana.11,12,13,16,17,19,22 (Death certificate #61499, volume #17004).11
