Robert Hanshew Jr.  

RURAL RETREAT, Va. -- Robert "Bobby" Love Hanshew Jr., age 59, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005, at his home.  

He was born in Ceres, Va., and was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Scott Hanshew, and a brother, Eddie Hanshew.  Mr. Hanshew was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed at the Atkins Elementary School and the Smyth County School Board for over 22 years.  

Survivors include: his wife of 33 years, Mrs. Sandra "Sandy" Hanshew; one daughter, Sharon Quillen, Bluefield, Va.; one son-in-law, John Quillen; one grandson, Mark Quillen; one granddaughter, Allison McVey; special friends, Janice and Alfred Honaker, Atkins, Va., Joann and Tim Phillips and Megan Johnson, Rich Valley, Va., and Roger Litton, Charlotte, N.C.; his father, Robert Hanshew Sr., Ceres; a sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Raney Price, Tyrone, Ga.; a brother and sister-in-law, Darrell and Rachel Hanshew, Kennesaw, Ga.; a brother and sister-in-law, Mildean "Goatie" and Joyce Hanshew, Marion; a sister, Janice Osborne, Marion; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.  

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at 2 p.m. from the Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Larry Patton and Rev. Otis Barker officiating.  Interment will follow in the Zion Cemetery in Nebo, Va., with military honors being rendered by the Francis Marion VFW Post 4667.  The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com.  

Bradley's Funeral Home, Marion, is serving the Hanshew family.
