On Sep 12 1918 Edward Willis Henshaw, age 42, registered for the World War I draft in Neenah, Winnebago County, Wisconsin.  He declared he was born July 8 1876, and was then residing in Rush Lake, Winnebago County, Wisconsin where he was a farmer employed by H.V. Henshaw of Rush Lake.  He declared his nearest relative was Mrs. Diana Henshaw of Rush Lake.  He was recorded as tall, medium build, light blue eyes, grey hair.6  

He married Annie L. -, about 1927.2  Annie was born 1906, Wisconsin.1,2,8  

Edward (Edwin) and family were shown in the 1930 census (Apr 17-18 1930), Nepeuskun Township, Winnebago County, Wisconsin:2

Henshaw, Edwin W., head-of-household, age 53, born in Wisconsin; father born in Wisconsin; mother born in England; first married at age 47; owned home ($12,000 value); radio in home; occupation: farmer, dairy; not a war veteran.
Henshaw, Annie L., wife, age 23, born in Wisconsin; parents born in Wisconsin; first married at age 17.
Henshaw, Dorthy I., daughter, age 3, born in Wisconsin; parents born in Wisconsin.

Edward Willis Henshaw died Oct 2 1930, near Burnet, Dodge County, Wisconsin; age 54.1,8  Annie died Oct 2 1930, near Burnet, Dodge County, Wisconsin; age 24.1,8  

Edward and his wife and daughter were all killed in a tragic automobile accident.  The accident was reported in the "Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune" (Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin) on Thursday, October 2, 1930:1

Beaver Dam, Wis., Oct. 2. -- (AP) -- Three members of a Waukau, Wis., farm family were dead today after the open truck in which they rode was demolished when struck by a North Western road gasoline train at a grade crossing near Burnet.  

Edward Henshaw, 54, his wife, 24, and their daughter, Irene, 4, were killed instantly.  Witnesses, stating the track was visible more than a mile on either side of the crossing, were unable to account for the accident.

The family's tragic accident was also reported in the "Hartford Press" on October 3, 1930 (page 1, column 8)9 (see scan below).
