He married Edna Agnes Reece, Jan 13 1910, Randolph County, Indiana.1,13,17  [marriage license date].17  Edna, daughter of Eli Charles Reece & Sarah Albertson3,10,13,18,19, was born Jan 17 18913,10,13,18,19 [Feb 15 189117], Randolph County, Indiana3,10,13,18,19.  Samuel & Edna were 6th cousins once removed.

On Jun 5 1917 Samuel Meredith Hinshaw, age 26, registered for the World War I draft in Washington Township, Randolph County, Indiana.  He declared he was born Aug 11 1891 in Lynn, Indiana, and was then residing near Winchester, Indiana where he was a self-employed farmer with a wife and child.  He claimed an exemption due to "support wife & child" and [..unclear..] "Friends Church".  He was recorded as medium height, stout, dark blue eyes, red & brown hair, with "finger off of right hand".11

The following article was published in the "Union City Times-Gazette" (Union City, Randolph County, Indiana) on Friday, May 19, 1939:19

Eli C. Reece Will Probated Thurday.  

The will of Eli C. Reece, who died at Lynn last Sunday, was probated in Randolph circuit court yesterday.  After funeral expenses and indebtedness have been paid and a marker placeed at the grave of a deceased daughter, Anna Reece, the balance of the estates is to be divided as follows:

To the children of a deceased daughter, Laura May Lamb, $300., the balance equally to Nora Pegg, Edna Hinshaw and Hattie Virginia Reece.  A son-in-law, Samuel Hinshaw, was nominated as executor.  The will was executed September 16, 1937, witnessed by Samuel C. Westlake and Fred Jones.

On Apr 27 1942 Samuel Meredith Hinshaw, age 51, registered for the World War II draft in Randolph County, Indiana.  He declared he was born August 11, 1891 in Randolph [county], Indiana, and was then residing in Winchester, Washington Township, Randolph County, Indiana where he was a self-employed farmer.  He declared his relative/contact was Otis Hinshaw of Winchester.  He was recorded as 5' 8" tall, 225 lbs., blue eyes, brown hair, fair complexion.12  

Samuel M. Hinshaw was elected clerk of Randolph County, Indiana in 1948 and 1952.24  

Samuel Meredith Hinshaw died 1958, buried Fountain Park Cemetery, 700 S. Main Street, Winchester, Randolph County, Indiana.16  

Edna died 1961, buried Fountain Park Cemetery, 700 S. Main Street, Winchester, Randolph County, Indiana.25
