After Franklin's father died in 1872, he and his family returned to Indiana.  At Poplar Ridge MM on 5-8-1873, Franklin P. was received on a certificate from Cottonwood MM, Kansas.3  

Franklin and his sister Martha were shown in the 1880 census (Jun 7-8 1880) living with their maternal aunt (Eliza Ann Evans) and uncle in Clay Township, Hamilton County, Indiana:11
