On Jun 5 1917 William Raymond Hinshaw, age 29, registered for the World War I draft in Buffalo, New York.  He declared he was born Aug. 14 1887 in Indianapolis, Indiana, and was then residing at 1106 Main St., Buffalo, New York; married; occupied as a chief inspector employed by Transmission Ball Bearing Co.  Previous military experience as a sergeant in the Cavalry, 1907-1913.  He claimed an exemption due to "sick wife (dependent)".  He was recorded as medium height, medium build, blue eyes, brown hair.4
