Bess Hoy Austin
Bess Hoy Austin, 80, of Sun City, Calif., died Oct. 3 following an extended illness.
She was a 1942 New Lisbon High School graduate and worked at First National Bank. She moved to San Diego, Calif., in 1950. She was born Aug. 24, 1920, in Henry County, a daughter of Herschel and Eva Van Demis Hinshaw.
She is survived by her second husband, Charles; her daughter, Jan (husband: Mike) Carpenter; two sisters, Carolyn (husband: Gary) Grim and Dorothy Ryan; six brothers, Harold (wife: Betty) Hinshaw, Joe (wife: Marlene) Hinshaw, Dick (wife: Bonnie) Hinshaw, Bill (wife; Jo) Hinshaw, Carl (wife: Vickie) Hinshaw and Gerald (wife: Gloria) Hinshaw; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Rickie Hoy; and her first husband, William A. Hoy; two brothers, Robert and Charlie; three sisters, Margaret, Betty and Eula Mae.
Services were held at Miller-Jones Mortuary of Sun City, Calif.
