He loved riding motorcycles.    He and his wife, Bonnie, traveled all across the United States at different times on their motorcycle.    He was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.    He also loved gardening, NASCAR, the Colts, riding around in his golf cart and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Invitational.    During his 33 years of competition, he won many events, including the National Crown Championship for Figure 8 cars in 1974.    He also was Point Champion three times for the Figure 8s and was ranked second overall in terms of all-time achievements.    Dick also ranked third for all-time wins at Mount Lawn and was inducted into the Mount Lawn Hall of Fame in 2008.    During his racing career, which spanned from 1960-1993, he also raced stock cars in the prestigious ASA (American Speed Association) series.    He retired from figure-8 competition in 1985.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bonnie (Burroughs) Hinshaw, whom he married June 21, 1958; one daughter, Rita (husband, Bobby) Westrater of Middletown; two sons, Randy Hinshaw of Fort Wayne and Rick (wife, Lea) Hinshaw of Oaklandon; nine grandchildren, Ricky (wife, April) Hinshaw of Ossian, Ryan (companion, Jessica) Hinshaw of Indianapolis, Shan (wife, Erica) Willis of Scotts Air Force Base, Ill., Katie (fiance, A.J.)
