James' obituary was published in the "Star Tribune" (Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota) on June 13, 2010:5

Hinshaw, James Bruff age 95, of Chaska.  He was born September 25, 1914 and died June 10, 2010 at Friendship Manor Care Center, Shakopee.  He went through grade school at Alta, IA, and high school at Pine River, MN.  He married Josephine Werrick on December 18, 1941 and enlisted in the Army shortly after and served 7 months in the U.S. and 33 months in North Africa and Europe during World War II.  He later taught Auto Trades at Vocational high school, later to become Technical school.  He retired in 1974 and moved to Chaska.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine; parents, Harvey and Beulah.  Survived by son, James P. Hinshaw, of Burnsville; brother, Theodore Hinshaw, of MO; his beloved cat, Sunny; and his special friend, Wendy.  Family will receive friends Wednesday 5-8 PM at the Bertas Funeral Home, 200 W. 3rd St., Chaska, with a Prayer Service at 7:30 PM.  Inurnment will be Thursday at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.  Bertas Funeral Home (952) 448-2137
