The following biographical sketch was written by great granddaughter Rebecca Hardman:7

IVIAN ETHEL (HINSHAW) HARRIES (1889-1980)

This is my memory of a very special women my great grandmother, Ivian Ethel Harries.  My story will be short for she passed when I was young, but the memory I carry I want passed along.  Ivian was a dedicated women from the stories I hear from her grandchildren, but better yet from what I remember of her.  When I met my great grandmother she was in a nursing home and we went back home to western Kansas all the time just to see this remarkable woman.  She always had a beaded bracelet made by her for me and my sister with the most colorful and extravagant beads a little girl could desire.  She made her time keeping company of others as to see that no one was alone.  She spread her compassion, caring, and belief to all those she could reach.  Well the short time I did get with my great grandmother was well worth it for now that I am older and look to my heritage just to see where I have came from I find this warmth among almost all those connected to her in one way or another!  I feel anyone that knew my great grandmother was a lucky person for she tried to pass on some of her inspiration to all those she met.
