He married Mary -, about 1797.¹ Mary was born about 1776¹⁰ [about 1773¹¹], North Carolina¹⁰.

A Benjamin Henshaw appeared (along with Jesse Henshaw and George Henshaw) on the 1801 Tax List, Roane County, Tennessee.¹² (Note: Roane County was formed December 20 1801, before Overton County was formed in 1808).¹³

A deed was recorded in Jackson County, Tennessee, on March 17, 1806, where Benjamin Hinshaw (then residing in Jackson County) purchased 100 acres of land from John Sevier for $100.¹⁴ On July 22, 1829, Benjamin sold this land to Jessee Read for $250.¹⁵

A deed was recorded in Overton County, Tennessee, on August 20, 1811, where Benjamin appointed his brother George as attorney to convey lands. See: George.^13,16

On March 11, 1816, Benjamin Hinshaw served on a jury in Overton County, Tennessee Circuit Court.¹⁷

A deed was recorded in Overton County, Tennessee, on July 22, 1816, where Benjamin (then residing in Overton County) purchased two tracts of land from Henry Gilmore for $400. One tract was on the head draft of Roaring River in Pond Cove. The other tract was 40 acres in the same cove.¹⁸

In August, 1821, Benjamin again served on a jury in Overton County Circuit Court.¹⁷
