Born Jul 25 1779, Guilford County, North Carolina.7,8,9  

He married Mary -, about 1797.1  Mary was born about 177610 [about 177311], North Carolina10.  

A Benjamin Henshaw appeared (along with Jesse Henshaw and George Henshaw) on the 1801 Tax List, Roane County, Tennessee.12  (Note: Roane County was formed December 20 1801, before Overton County was formed in 1808).13  

A deed was recorded in Jackson County, Tennessee, on March 17, 1806, where Benjamin Hinshaw (then residing in Jackson County) purchased 100 acres of land from John Sevier for $100.14  On July 22, 1829, Benjamin sold this land to Jessee Read for $250.15  

A deed was recorded in Overton County, Tennessee, on August 20, 1811, where Benjamin appointed his brother George as attorney to convey lands.  See: George.13,16  

On March 11, 1816, Benjamin Hinshaw served on a jury in Overton County, Tennessee Circuit Court.17  

A deed was recorded in Overton County, Tennessee, on July 22, 1816, where Benjamin (then residing in Overton County) purchased two tracts of land from Henry Gilmore for $400.  One tract was on the head draft of Roaring River in Pond Cove.  The other tract was 40 acres in the same cove.18  

Benjamin and family were shown in the 1820 census, Overton County, Tennessee:19

In August, 1821, Benjamin again served on a jury in Overton County Circuit Court.17

Benjamin Hinshaw died Aug 5 1839, near Bloomington, McLean County, Illinois.1  

Widow Mary was shown in the 1850 census (Sep 21 1850), living in the household of grandson William Webb in Horn Grove Township, McLean County, Illinois:10

William Webb, age 21, born in Illinois; farmer; $1000 real estate.
Matilda Webb, age 23, born in Indiana.
Mary Henshaw, age 74, born in North Carolina.
Living three houses away in 1850 was the family of daughter Penina.25  

Widow Mary was shown in the 1860 census (Jun 25 1860), living in the household of daughter Penina in Dry Grove Township, McLean County, Illinois:11
