He married Janet Anne Trigg, Oct 5 1941, Richland, Keokuk County, Iowa.10  Janet, daughter of Loraine Jackson Trigg & Ruby Catherine Reeder, was born Jan 24 1923, near Richland, Keokuk County, Iowa.1,8,11,12,13,14,15,16  

During World War II Kermit served in the U.S. Army 250th Signal Operations Company; entered active duty Mar 19 1942, Ft. Des Moines, Iowa; honorably discharged Sep 18 1945.6  

The following classified advertisement was published in the "Waterloo Daily Courier" (Waterloo, Iowa) on December 8, 1947:17

Janet Anne Hinshaw, 86, of Richland, died July 22, 2009 in Ottumwa.  

She married Kermit Hinshaw in 1941.  She and her husband raised champion Standardbred horses.  

She is survived by her husband Kermit and four children: John of Ankeny, Korwin, Fairfield, Emily, Marion and Sallie, Fairfield.  

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday July 25, 2009, at Woolson Friends Church, Richland.  Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery.  Visitation at Gould Funeral Home in Richland is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.  

Memorials may be sent to the funeral home.

Janet Hinshaw

RICHLAND -- Janet Anne Hinshaw, 86, of Richland, died at 8:46 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Hospice of Davis and Wapello Counties in Ottumwa.  

She was born Jan. 24, 1923, near Richland, the daughter of Loraine J. and Ruby C. (Reeder) Trigg.  They moved to Ollie while she was very young, and she graduated from Hedrick High School in 1940.  She married Kermit Hinshaw on Oct. 5, 1941, at her mother's home in Richland.  

Janet worked as a telephone operator prior to her marriage.  She and her husband owned and operated a farm, gas station, bulk fuel plant, feed store and restaurant and they raised champion Standardbred horses.  She was a member of the Woolson Friends Church (Richland), Women's Christian Temperance Union, United Society of Friends Women, Christian Harness Horse Association and the Star Country Club.  Janet was a devout Christian and loved reading her Bible daily.  She was a cherished wife and mother.  

She is survived by her husband, Kermit of Richland; two sons, John Hinshaw and his wife Reka of Ankeny, Iowa, and Korwin Hinshaw and his wife Judi of Fairfield; two daughters, Emily Emonin and her husband John of Marion, Iowa, and Sallie Hayes and her husband Terry of Fairfield; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Trigg and Harriet "Peggy" Kavanagh, both of Whittier, Calif.; many nieces and nephews and close friends.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, William "Bill" Trigg and Paul Trigg.  

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Woolson Friends Church with Pastor Harlan Van Voorst officiating.  Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery in Richland.  

Visitation at Gould Funeral Home in Richland will open at 4 p.m. Friday with the family present 6-8 p.m.  

Memorials have been established for Woolson Friends Church, Hospice of Davis and Wapello Counties or the Christian Harness Horse Association.  

Gould Funeral Home of Richland is in charge of arrangements.

Kermit L. Hinshaw

Kermit Leon Hinshaw, 95, of Richland, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 4th, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center, Fairfield, Iowa.  He was born March 25, 1919, in Richland, Iowa, the son of Loren Levi and Gertrude Pearl (Shy) Hinshaw.  Kermit married Janet Anne Trigg on October 5, 1941.  The couple lived in Richland their entire married life.  

Kermit was a World War II veteran of the European Theatre.  He was a farmer and businessman.  He also raised and raced Standardbred horses including Jodevin, the 1976 National Two-Year-Trotter of the Year.  

Kermit is survived by his son, John and wife Reka of Ankeny, IA; Emily Emonin and husband John of Marion, IA; Korwin and wife Judi of Fairfield and Sallie Hayes and husband Terry of Fairfield, IA; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet Anne (Trigg); brothers, Loren Keith and Kevin Dean

Services for Kermit L. Hinshaw will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Woolson Friends Church, Richland, Iowa with Rev. Frosty Van Voorst officiating.  Visitation be at 4:00 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2014, at Woolson Friends Church with family present from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.  Interment will take place at Richland Friends Cemetery, Richland, Iowa.  Memorials have been established to the Woolson Friends Church, Richland Friends Cemetery and the Christian Harness Horse Association and may be left at the church or mailed to the family at 1104 Wedgewood Circle, Fairfield, IA 52556.  Gould Funeral Home of Richland is assisting the family.
