Harry Orvin Henshaw died Oct 2 1899, Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana; buried Oct 4 1899, Section A, Lot 3844, Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana.5,8  

The following telegram was sent informing others of Harry's death (received at 1131 North 6th street on Oct 4 1899):1

Died of Injuries,
Harry A Henshaw, who was burned in a gasoline explosion.  
Harry Henshaw, a plumber, who was burned by a gasoline explosion in the basement of the post office building last Wednesday afternoon, died of his injuries at the City Hospital at 1:15 o'clock this morning of internal congestion, caused by having inhaled some of the flames.  Harry Henshaw lived at 928 South Meridian Street.  

Society Improved Order Red Men.  Members of Hiawatha Tribe, No. 75, are notified to assemble at 1:30 PM Wednesday, October 4 to attend the funeral of our late brother, Harry Henshaw, bring white gloves.

The following note about Harry's death was inscribed on the back of a photograph:1

Burned in basement of post office where ladder slipped throwing uncle Harry holding a blow torch headlong into cans of turpentine and paint used to renew interior of office.  Harry was a steam fitter working on overhead pipes at time of accident.
