On Sep 28 1943 Sheldon W. Hancher, born 1924 in Pennsylvania, enlisted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as a Private in the U.S. Army.  He declared he had a grammar school education, was married, and occupied in farming.5  

He then married Pauline Leshuk, May 16 1953, Elm Grove Lutheran Church, West Virginia.4  Pauline was born Mar 18 1928, Blough, Pennsylvania Hiram V. Chadwick Jr. & Mary Belle Ealy.3,6,7

Sheldon Wayne Hancher, Custodian supervisor in Washington Schools, 68, of Claysville RD 1 died Monday, January 25 in Washington Hospital.  Born January 26, 1924 in Claysville the son of John D and Artie Henry Hancher.  Member of First Baptist Church of Claysville, attended Claysville schools.  US Army World War II, private first class, 475th infantry in India, China, Burma, earned Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with four bronze stars and a China War Memorial Badge and Ribbon.  Member of Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 of Washington for 35 years and a member of Claysville Sportsmen's Club.  His hobbies were hunting, fishing, trapping, archery and he was an avid flower gardner.  Married Pauline Leshuk on May 16, 1953 in Elm Grove Lutheran Church WV.  Survived by two sons, Sheldon Paul of Claysville and Terry Wayne of Webster Springs WV; a step-son, John Leshuk of Starke FL; two brothers, Arnold of Claysville and Robert of Youngstown OH; two sisters, Vivian Roseman of Houston and Janet Shoemaker of Washington; three grandchildren, Sheldon Wayne, Paula Marie, and Scott Douglas; three step-grandchildren, 2 great grandsons.  Predeceased by brothers Charles, D O, John, and Kilbourne; sisters, Mildred Plants, Betty Hancher and Evelyn Hancher.  Ferrell Funeral Home, 219 Main St, Claysville, services Friday, January 29, Rev David Coleman of the First Baptist Church of Claysville officiating.  Interment in West Alexander Cemetery.

Pauline Hancher

STARKE - Pauline Hancher, 76, of Starke died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at Shands at Starke following an extended illness.  
Born in Blough, Pa., Mrs. Hancher moved to Triadelphia, W.Va. at an early age.  She was a registered nurse and worked at Wheeling Hospital, Peterson Nursing Home in Wheeling, W.Va. and entered private practice in Washington, Pa. until her retirement.  She was of the Baptist faith.  
Mrs. Hancher is survived by: a son John Leshuk of Starke; two brothers, Paul Leshuk of Tridelphia and Steve Leshuk of Michigan; four sisters, Margaret Ashton of Valley Grove, W.Va., Helen Golein of Triadelphia, Mary Fedak of Spring Hill and Joann Strawn of California; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Sheldon Hancher; three brothers, John Leshuk, Joe Leshuk and Mike Leshuk and a sister Ann Harvilla.  
Funeral services for Mrs. Hancher were Nov. 15, 2004 in the Chapel of Kepner Funeral Home in Wheeling, W.Va. with burial in West Alexander (Pa.) Cemetery.  Archie Tanner Funeral Home of Starke was in charge of local arrangements.
