Born May 29 19011,2,5,6,7,8,9 [May 29 190310,11], Emporia, Lyon County, Kansas1,2,5,6,7,8,9.  

In 1924 Albert graduated from the College of Emporia (Kansas), where he had been an outstanding athlete.12  

He married Marian Stephens Burr1,2,6,13 [Marion Brown6, Marion Brewer6, Mary N. Burr3], Oct 25 19301,2,6,13, Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri1,2,6,13.  Marian, daughter of Clarence Edmund Burr & Lena Rivers Stephens1,13, was born Jul 7 19021,13 [Jul 8 190214], Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri1,13.  

Albert was a school teacher and "althletic official",1 coaching basketball at the College of Emporia 1928-1931, and later coaching at Ellsworth and Salina high schools.  In 1957 he retired from officiating and became a public school teacher in Kansas City, Kansas.12  

Albert Frederick Hinshaw died May 23 1963, Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri; buried May 25 1963, Elmwood Cemetery, 4900 Truman Road, Kansas City, Missouri.1,10,11,12  

Albert's death was reported in the "Salina Journal" (Salina, Kansas) on Friday, May 24 196312 (see scan below).  

Marian was living in Kansas City, Missouri, as of 1972.1  

Marian was living in Duncan, Oklahoma, as of 1994 (probably with son Al).15  

In 2000 Marian was still living in Duncan, Stephens County, Oklahoma.14  

Marian died Oct 20 200013,16 [Oct 1 200014]; buried Elmwood Cemetery, Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri13,16.  

Marian's death notice was printed in "The Duncan Banner" (Duncan, Oklahoma) on October 20, 2000:

Marian's obituary appeared in "The Duncan Banner" on October 23, 2000, as follows:
Marian S. Hinshaw
Marian S. Hinshaw, 98, of Duncan died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000.  
Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating.  Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Kansas City, Mo.  
Mrs. Hinshaw was born July 7, 1902 in Kansas City to Clarence E. and Lena Rivers Stephens Burr, and lived most of her life there.  For the past 25 years, she lived in Duncan.  
A retired teacher, she began teaching in 1924 at the Atchison County community [sic] High School in Effingham, Kan.  She later taught in Gladstone, Mo., and Raymore, Mo.  
She was married in 1930 to Albert "Ab" Hinshaw who was a widely known football and basketball official in the Big Eight.  
For 10 years she did volunteer work at the Duncan Regional Hospital.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.  
Survivors include a son, Albert "Al Hinshaw and Thala of Duncan; three grandchildren, Scott Martin, Rick Hinshaw and Beth Harper; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler Richey, Tara Harper, Dixon Harper and Page Harper.  She was preceded in death by her husband in 1963; two daughters, Judith Ann Martin and Barbara Lee Hinshaw; and a grandson, Dean Martin.  Honorary bearers will be Don Crabb, Quanah Cox, Dixon Harper, Page Harper, Tyler Richey and Scott Martin.  
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
