Note: Richard's Massachusetts birth was recorded as both Richard Derby Henshaw and as Edward Gordon Henshaw.4 There was no indication of twins having been born.4 An official typed transcription of the (handwritten) birth records has an entry for Edward Gordon Henshaw, with the name lined-through and overwritten with Richard Derby Henshaw.4 However, in 1882 his parents had another son who they named Edward Gordon Henshaw.4
