Pete's obituary was published as follows:8
Petros Tofi, 80, of Kanawha City passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011 at CAMC Memorial Hospital. Petros was a retired chef, having served the Sterling Restaurant for 20 years and Southern Kitchen for ten years. He attended the Southeast Church of the Nazarene, Kanawha City. Petros was born in Famagusta, Cyprus, and came to Charleston when he was 15 years old. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. Petros loved swimming, fishing and playing basketball with his children. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Marie Hanshaw Tofi; parents, Petros and Marie Tofi; and sister, Thelka. He is survived by his children, Stella (Robert) White of Kanawha City, Michael (Laura) Tofi of Charleston and John Tofi of Charleston; grandchildren, John C. Tofi II, Megan Lee Smith and Michael Tofi; and special friend, Cheyenne Sheets. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at the Southeast Church of the Nazarene, Kanawha City, with Pastor Ollie R. Parsons officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston, with military rites performed by the VFW. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Southeast Church of the Nazarene, 5102 MacCorkle Avenue S.E, Charleston, WV 25304. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.barlowbonsall.com. Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
