Herman's obituary was published as follows:⁷

Herman Ragan Burnham, age 89, of Texarkana, Texas, died September 1, 2012, in a local hospital.   Mr. Burnham was born January 31, 1923, in Louisiana.  He was a retired engineer for NASA.  He was a member of Franklin Drive Church of Christ.   He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Maxine Burnham, of Texarkana, Texas, two sons, Maxie Earl Burnham and wife, Tanya, of Williamsport, Maryland and Dennis Burnham and wife, Sandy, of Texarkana, Texas, one sister, Doris Johnson, of Houston, Texas, five grandchildren, Stephanie Burnham, Christy Amerson, Rachel Frisk, Grant Burnham and Adam Burnham, and nine great grandchildren and a number of friends.   Burial - at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
