Aug. 26, 1921 -- Sept. 15, 2004Malcolm A. Lorraine, 83, of Soulsbyville died Wednesday at Evergreen Rehabilitation Care,Modesto.
Mr. Lorraine was a native of Ohio. He lived in Soulsbyville for many years and in Tuolumne County 50 years. He also lived in Washington 10 years and in Alaska five years. He was a self-employed carpenter and cabinet maker for 50 years. He served in the Army during World War II, as head cook for a German prisoner of war camp in the United States. He was a member of the Catholic Church. He was an avid horseman and cattle rancher. He raced dog sleds when he lived in Alaska.
He is survived by his wife, Novella Lorraine of Soulsbyville; children, Bruce DeMott of Ripon and David DeMott of Atwater; sister, Helen Lascalla of California; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Oct. 2, 1918 - Dec. 15, 2007Former Twain Harte resident Novella Hanshaw De Mott Lorraine passed away Dec. 15 at a Ripon care home. She was 89.
Mrs. Lorraine was born in Corona. She grew up in Modesto and spent some time in Missouri. She lived in Twain Harte from 1959 to 2003.
She was preceded in death in 1965 by her first husband, Pete De Mott, and in 2004 by her second husband, Mal Lorraine.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Jeanette De Mott of Ripon, and David and Sandra De Mott of Atwater; her brother and sister-in-law, Bayliss and Winnie Hanshaw of Arizona; and many grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 28 at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel at 111 S. Palm Ave. in Ripon. A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 29 at Ripon Cemetery at 320 N. Stockton Ave. in Ripon.
Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel in Ripon is handling arrangements.
