On September 12, 1918 Ray Montgomery Hanshew, age 32, registered for the World War I draft in Bosque County, Texas.  He declared he was born November 29, 1886 and he was then residing in Iredell, Bosque County, Texas where he was a self-employed farmer.  He declared his nearest relative was Mrs. Ida Cora Lee Hanshew of Iredell.  He was recorded as short, slender, brown eyes, dark hair.4
