OBITUARY
William W. Henshaw.

William W. Henshaw, associate manager of the Royal insurance company of England, and formerly secretary of the Long Island fire insurance company, died suddenly of fatty degeneration of the heart yesterday afternoon at his home, 296 Adelphi street.  Mr. Henshaw had been ill only twenty-four hours, and although he had suffered at times from attacks of indigestion the news of his demise came like a shock to a wide circle of friends who were wholly unprepared for the sad event.  He was resting in his easy chair when the change was noted.  Physicians were summoned, and all that kind and loving hands could do to minister to his dying moments was done, but in vain.  Mr. Henshaw was born in Brooklyn, where he had resided all his life, and was in his 59th year at the time of his death.  He was the son of the Rev. Linis Henshaw, a well known churchman in his day, and he took an active interest in religious and philanthropical matters.  As president of the Brooklyn city dispensary he showed excellent executive ability in managing an institution that seeks to alleviate the ills of the poor and unfortunate of a great community, and his presence will be greatly missed by his colaborers.  He was a member of the Summerfield Methodist Episcopal church for a long period if years and was active in all efforts looking to the progress of its work.  Mr. Henshaw was favorably known as an underwriter of wide and extensive experience.  He entered the employ of the Long Island insurance company at an early age and was rewarded for his fidelity by successive promotions until he reached the office of secretary, which position he held for many years.  He was noted for his strong domestic traits and for his kindness of nature which endeared him to many friends in this city and New York.  He leaves a widow and three children.  His funeral will take place from his late residence on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

William's funeral was noted in the "Brooklyn Daily Eagle" on Friday, July 3, 1891.9

Widow Caroline was shown in the 1900 census (Jun 7 1900), living in the household of son William in Queens, New York, New York:5
