In loving memory of Ione E. Moorehead Hinshaw. She was born on October 15, 1935 at the mouth of the Smith River by Amelia Brown, midwife, and went to be with the lord on June 18, 2009, at the age of 73. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Moorehead Sr. and Isabel Whipple Moorehead of Smith River; sisters, Ramona Alioto; Shirley Moorehead and her two children, Lorraine Hinshaw who passed away in 1956 and Wesley Thomas Hinshaw who passed away in 1978. She was a mother, daughter, sister, grand-mother, and great- grandmother who will be missed dearly.
Ione was a member of the Smith River Rancheria, a Tolowa Native. A nature lover, she enjoyed walks by the ocean, camping in the redwoods and at the beach with Uncle Fred and Aunt Lila, surfing for smelt, spending time at the river and taking care of her flowers. She was a caregiver for many years. She loved to see and spend time with her grand-children and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed putting puzzles together. She completed a course in electronics in Madera, Calif., in 1978.
She is survived by her brothers, Richard Moorehead of Eureka, Calif.; Theodore Moorehead Jr. of Big Lagoon, Calif., and sister, Beverly Moorehead James of Smith River; former husband, George E. Hinshaw Sr.; children, Gerine E. Hinshaw of Crescent City; George E. Hinshaw Jr. of Crescent City; William (Bill) Hinshaw Jr. and wife, Melinda R. Hinshaw of Smith River; Sue Brundin and husband, Eric Brundin of Smith River; Rhonda L. Corrales and husband, Danny G. Corrales of Phoenix, Ariz.; Leon K. Hinshaw and wife, Theresa V. Hinshaw of Springerville, Ariz.; grandchildren, Kourtney R. Holtzm [sic], daughter of Gerine; Kyle W. Hinshaw and Matthew Hinshaw, sons of Bill and Mendy; Ericka L. Brundin Jacobs and husband, Benjamin M. Jacobs; Laura M. Brundin; Kimberly M. Brundin Leavelle and husband, Chad Leavelle; Thomas F. Brundin and wife, Edie Brundin; Andrew E. She will also be missed by her beloved bird, Moses.
Viewing will be held at Weir’s Mortuary Chapel in Crescent City on Thursday June 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by a family and friends gathering at the Howonquet Senior Hall in Smith River California. Please bring a favorite dish.
Graveside service will be held Friday June 26, 2009, at 1:30PM in Blue Lake.

Teresa Jo Hoaby Hinshaw, 42, left this world on March 3rd, 2006. She left behind her husband George, daughters Misty & Georgia, son Jesse, grandkids Isaac & Callista, sisters Jackie, Lisa, & Julie, brother Mark, mother Darlene & stepfather Paul. She was a great bass player in the Phoenix area, and also a great mechanic, carpenter, & mathmetician. She enjoyed cooking & baking & cooked for many. She was a great friend to all & will be missed forever. Services are Sunday, March 5th, 2:30 pm at Phoenix Innercity Church, 1601 W. Grand Ave. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Bank of America, Misty G. Hinshaw.
