Marie Hinshaw died Sep 6 2008, Presbyterian Home, Oil City, Venango County, Pennsylvania; age 97.3  

Marie's obituary was published in "The Derrick" (Oil City, Pennsylvania) on Monday, September 8, 2008:3

I. Marie Stephenson, 97, went to be with the Lord at 8:40 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, in the Presbyterian Home of Oil City.  

Born Jan. 12, 1911, in Vicennes [sic], Ind., she was a daughter of Walter and Lottie Stuart Hinshaw.  

She traveled with her parents while in the service of the Salvation Army before she married George W. "Steve" Stephenson on April 15, 1931.  He preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1969.  

Marie will be remembered for her love of music.  She played the organ and piano for several organizations in the area, the Order of Eastern Star and the Grace United Methodist Church Sunday school.  

Mrs. Stephenson was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Oil City for more than 50 years.  She also was a member of Grace United Methodist Church choir and the choir at Wesbury Methodist Community in Meadville, where she resided for several years.  

While living in Oil City, she enjoyed square dancing, trips with the YWCA Gallivanters and volunteering for the American Red Cross.  

Her last place of employment was at Smedley Street School in Oil City, where she was the cafeteria manager.  

Surviving are two sons, Charles W. Stephenson and his wife, Mary Jo, and Robert D. Stephenson and his wife, Sharyn, all of Oil City; her grandchildren, Jerry Stephenson, Julie Kelley, Mary Jane Verhoff, Jeff Stephenson, Suzanne Vavala, Michael Stephenson, Matthew Stephenson and Marc Stephenson; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.  

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter (Buddy) Hinshaw and John Paul Hinshaw, and one sister, Mabel Hinshaw.  

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Morrison Funeral Home.  

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Byron K. Myers, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating.  

Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, the Oil City Presbyterian Home or to a charity of one’s choice.
