He married Lula A. Klingensmith, Aug 26 1911, Carmel, Hamilton County, Indiana.1,11  Lula, daughter of Christain Klingensmith & Laura Patten, was born Jan 20 1890, Carmel, Hamilton County, Indiana.1,2,3  

In 1918 Oliver Earl Hinshaw, age 33, registered for the World War I draft in Hamilton County, Indiana.  He declared he was born Mch 15 1885, and was then residing in Carmel, Hamilton County, Indiana where he was a school teacher.  He declared his nearest relative was Lula K. Hinshaw of Carmel.  He was recorded as short, medium build, grey eyes, dark hair.9

On Apr 27 1942 Oliver Earl Hinshaw, age 57, registered for the World War II draft in Noblesville, Hamilton County, Indiana.  He declared he was born 3-15-1885 in Carmel, Indiana, and was then residing in Noblesville where he was employed by the "School City of Noblesville", Conner St., Noblesville.  He declared his relative/contact was Lula Hinshaw of Noblesville.  He was recorded as 5'7" tall, 195 lbs., blue eyes, brown/gray hair, ruddy complexion.10  

In 1966 Earl was living in Fishers, Hamilton County, Indiana.6  

Oliver Earl Hinshaw died Apr 17 1966, Noblesville, Hamilton County, Indiana; buried Carmel Cemetery, Carmel, Indiana.1,6  

Lula died Jun 14 1969, Carmel, Hamilton County, Indiana.1  

Oliver Earl Hinshaw was the principal and superintendent of Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana.  It was Earl who selected the "Greyhound" as Carmelís mascot.  Today (2007) Carmel is the most exclusive suburb of Indianapolis, a far cry from the Quaker town of Earl's youth.  The greyhound is still the mascot of what is today (2007) Indianaís second-largest high school.14
